Guests of Big Lake Lodge & RV Park have numerous opportunities to view and appreciate the unique and beautiful wildlife and natural resources common to south central Florida.  Adjacent to our property is a wading bird breeding colony – where numerous species of wading birds make their nests.  At this one site you can see anhingas, double crested cormorants, great blue herons, great egrets, little blue herons, snowy egrets, and white ibis.  Additionally, from our docks you can see alligators, bald eagles, ospreys, and wood storks.

Spectacular – the sun sets across the rim canal and the Herbert Hoover dike, which surrounds Lake Okeechobee.

Beautiful landscape and flowers are just part of Big Lake Lodge’s appeal.

During the breeding season many wading birds congregate and nest on the property adjacent to Big Lake Lodge.

The Kissimmee River, home to a world-class restoration project and some great fishing is within an hour’s drive to the northwest.

Lake Okeechobee is FAMOUS for LARGE largemouth bass!  Nice bass are commonly caught in the rim canal and from the lake.  We recommend Capt. Eddie Perry.

Unfortunately, none of our guests have caught a sailfish while fishing in Lake Okeechobee!  In about an hour you can travel to Jupiter, Stuart, or West Palm Beach for excellent off shore fishing!

The coastal town of Jupiter, with its famous lighthouse and beautiful beaches, is less than an hour drive away.

You can travel to the coast (Jupiter, Stuart, or West Palm Beach) for excellent SCUBA diving adventures!

Yes, we do have alligators.  No, they are not all this small.
